The Seed Is The Word Of God- 056/05/2021

THE SEED IS THE WORD OF GOD

In Luke 8 we find a timeless principle taught by Jesus.  It is often referred to as the “Parable of the Sower.”  In this parable Jesus uses as illustration common to anyone living in the 1st Century.  He says “A sower went out to sow his seed…” (Luke 8:5).
As the sower spread seed to plant his crop some of it was wasted as it fell by the wayside where the ground was not ready for the seed and birds came and ate it.   Some of the seed fell on ground where the rocks kept it from growing roots in the earth.  Thorns choked out other seed trying to grow. But, finally some of the seed “fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold” (Luke 8:7).
Some of the points made by Jesus are easily understood.  Jesus says, “The seed is the word of God” (Luke 8:11).  The soils represent the hearts of those hearing the word of God.  The sower (all of us) spreads the pure word of God but we do not determine those who will accept it.  We do not determine the reaction to the seed.  We do determine what our own reaction is to the pure word of God.  We also determine if we have the work ethic to keep sowing the seed when the conditions are challenging.
The seed has the ability to grow when planted in good hearts.  The seed produces exactly what was sown.  The pure word of God produces Christians.  It works among all peoples and time periods depending upon the hearts of those involved.  If it altered and a hybrid seed (a seed engineered by man) is planted it will not produce Christians but something else.
The good seed comes from the word of God.  The seed produced in the labs of men will cause cancer.   We would encourage you to read God’s word and allow it to change your heart and be a Christian.  Lord, please give us the wisdom, courage, persistence, and faith to keep spreading Your seed!
